Basic Rules

  • This is a camp of instruction and not a forum for debate. What will be presented will be restricted to what is historically documentable and of practical value to the reenacting trooper. This instruction is intended to be a foundation upon which the reenactor can build his cavalry impression.
  • The camp will be run in a military manner and to a schedule. Participants will be expected to act in a manner befitting a 19th century soldier. This is not an "immersion" or "first person" event. It is a training camp for reenactors.
  • Period attire will be required between 1st Call on Saturday and closing on Sunday. Federal uniform is preferred.
  • No wall tents of any size. 'A' tents are allowed but will be required to house 2 troopers per tent minimum. Shelter tents are welcome.
  • No "furniture" - camp chairs, stools, crates, coolers, casks, etc.
  • There will be one cooking fire per squad.
  • No rank will be worn.
  • Women dressed in uniform will be treated and referenced to as men. Civilian women are not participating.
  • While it would obviously help if you have cavalry weapons and equipments, you are still invited and welcome to participate if you do not.
  • Besides the training, the event will only be providing drinking water.
  • Preferred weapons are: Sharps carbine; 1 revolver; a sabre - all in good repair and working order.
  • You may carry infantry acoutrements if you do not have cavalry accoutrements.
