Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, We would like to cordially invite you to the 2nd event to be held at Burkittsville, Maryland. For anyone who did not make the first Engagement at Burkittsville, it was truly a unique experience for those involved. For this event the civilians play an important role and they receive the opportunity to do first-person impressions. Once again, the civilian participants will be given this opportunity and they will get to interact with other progressive civilians, recreate scenarios involving daily life of the 1860s, and they will get to show the impact the war had on the citizens of Burkittsville MD in September of 1862. Civilians will also get to interact with the military of both sides in a period appropriate fashion. This event will also strive to show the public about the daily lives of civilians and how their lives were changed by the battle of Crampton's Gap. Progressive civilian reenactors will be portraying townspeople and the local farming community. Civilians must be willing to portray first-person impressions and be flexible and adaptable to all situations. There will be times, however, that a re-enactor will need to step-out of character to narrate and explain situations/ events to the public. Civilian participants for this event also will do a lot of pre planning while developing first person personas, doing internet chats to become acquainted, and becoming a "part" of Burkittsville before they arrive. We will once again utilize modern resources in order to get to know each other before the event begins. For those who attended last time there will be some changes in the schedule and activities. These changes are currently being finalized and you will be informed when they are finished. We ask that anyone who plans to participate fully read all event and civilian information and regulations. If there are any questions regarding any of the rules and regulations you may feel free to address them with us. Only Individual Pre-Registration will be accepted. Civilian registration is limited to 75 participants, and due to limited numbers, anyone wishing to attend must contact the civilian coordinators prior to registering. Your registration will not be accepted unless you have done so. We hope that you will come
to participate in this unique event. We look forward to working with
you in the months ahead to once again make this a great event and we
invite you to contact us at any time regarding any issue or
question.
