Union Mills ~ Confederate Impression Guidelines

These guidelines are not complete

By attending this event, all Confederate infantry participants agree to abide by these standards as indicated.

Impression

  • The Confederates being portrayed represent troops of the Army of Northern Virginia during the Gettysburg campaign of 1863. The unit portrayed is yet to be determined.
  • The following list is intended to guide the individual in his impression all clothing needs to be HIGH QUALITY REPRODUCTIONS (none of usual items found on sutlers row). If you have any questions, please get in touch with the 1st Maine - we do not want to turn people away, however we will uphold these standards as they are stated.
  • Any individual may have to alter or remove items of his equipment that do not comply with these standards and should be preparred to accept and act on that without argument or debate.

Personal items
  • Eye glasses, of period style ONLY, modern eyewear will NOT betolerated.
  • Hairstyles must be appropriate for soldiers of the period. Length should stop at the collar. NO PONYTAILS!
  • Tobacco products must be of period style, NO CIGARETTES! NO modern chewing products. NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • Mess gear, must be of appropriate patterns and construction. No one piece stainless steel. NO SPECKLE ENAMEL WARE!
  • Housewives and sewing equipment, must be of period style and construction.
  • Cards and other amusement items, must be of period style and construction.
